Abstract: As one of the widely used tools in engineering surveys, the high-intensity resistivity method has the advantages of high efficiency, abundant information, and others compared with the conventional resistivity method. In this paper,we first introduce the principle of the high-intensity resistivity method, and present the characteristics of two devices(Wenner-Schlumberger and Wenner devices) which are commonly employed. Then we construct a theoretical model based on measured data. Through theoretical numerical simulation of forward modeling and inversion,we analyze model characteristics of the electrical response with the two devices, then do the stratigraphic classification and geological interpretation, and comparison with the measured data. The results show that the Wenner-Schlumberger device is more efficient than the Wenner device in determination of geological stratification. And forward modeling of high-intensity resistivity allows us to improve the accuracy of stratigraphic division and geological interpretation.
