Abstract: Based on the data of China from 1988 to 2013,this paper studies the impact of factors on energy intensity by the quintile regression method. The empirical results indicate that the optimization of industrial structure and FDI can reduce energy intensity. But with the reduction of energy intensity,their roles will increase. The effect of energy price impact on energy intensity is not significant. The proportion of coal in total energy consumption has a positive effect on energy intensity. Similarly,with decreasing energy intensity,the role of the proportion of coal in total energy consumption will be decline firstly and rise then. Consumption has a positive effect on energy intensity.
