摘要:The Australia-China Joint Centre for Wheat Improvement was established in 2013.Wheat nitrogen use efficiency(UNE) has been a major focus of the center.Multiple genetic and non-genetic approaches have been studied and a range of positive results have been obtained.An extra high molecular weight glutenin subunit GluAly was integrated into Australian cultivars and showed simultaneously increase of both yield and protein content.The integration also significantly improved bread-making quality.Sulphur fertilizer has been found to increase NUE in Western Australia environments;a desirable fertilizer strategy for better NUE and optimal grain protein composition has been established focusing on sulphur and nitrogen fertilizer ratio.Signal transduction study revealed that both endogenous and exogenous nitric oxide has negative effects on NUE.A new research project is established to study the genetic bases of wheat NUE,which uses 5 new doubled haploid populations with the parental lines sourced from multiple countries to identify new QTLs and clone new genes.Currently,the NAC gene architecture is addressed and the NAM-A1 has been found to contain various alleles with differential effects on NUE.Metabolomic approaches are also used to dissect key signal transduction pathways in relation to NUE.
