摘要:Enriching iron content while minimizing metal toxic level in crop is important to both plant growth and human health.Vacuolar iron transporter(VIT) members are involved in this process,which play essential roles in iron storage and iron stress detoxification.In this study,we identified a rapeseed gene BnMEB2,a homolog of Arabidopsis MEB2,which belongs to VIT family and acts as a detoxifierin vacuolar sequestration of divalent metal.Transient expression analysis revealed that BnME82 was localized to the vacuolar membrane.Q-PCR detection showed that BnMEB2 was highly expressed in 60-day-old leaves and could be obviously induced by iron sufficient treatment in both roots and leaves.Over-expressed BnMEB2 in both Arabidopsis wide type and meb2 mutant seedlings result in significant iron tolerance improvement.Taken together,these results suggest that BnMEB2 is possibly required for iron storage and the tolerance of iron sufficient stress,which shed light on a potentially new strategy for improving iron biofortification in Brassicaceae crops and attenuating hazardous metal contamination from environment.
