The structural and photosynthetic differences of leaf and silique of Brassica napus L.in response to potassium deficiency

摘要:Leaf and silique are two main photosynthetically active organs of Brassica napus,both of which play key roles in vegetative architecture and yield formation.Different from leaf,silique is a non-foliar organ,which may result in distinct structural and photosynthetic properties,along with their different responses to K deficiency.Therefore,measurement of anatomical and photosynthetic traits was carried out on leaf and silique during their steady stage of photosynthetic function in field condition with K sufficient supply(+K) and deficiency treatment(-K).The results showed that leaf K concentration was lower than silique,and more sensitive to K deficiency.Leaf photosynthesis(A) was 3 times higher than that of silique.K deficiency significantly decreased A of both organs.Though the total A decline was much smaller in silique,the stomatal limitation was the main restraint of A decline for both organs.Stomatal behaviour was intimately connected with stomatal function and anatomical traits.Stomatal conductance was much lower in silique and less sensitive to K deficiency than leaf.The stomatal density and total stomatal pore area were greater in leaf hypodermis,however silique had extremely larger stomatal length,width and pore area.Moreover,the chloroplast ultrastructure has been observed,showing that leaf cell had more chloroplasts,with a larger length,thickness and grana lamella.Overall,leaf organs are equipped with the stronger photosynthetic capacity ascribing to their prior stomatal conductance,chloroplast number and grana lamella.However,they were more susceptible to K deficiency.
