Improvement of the Water Resistance of Magnesium Oxychloride Cement:Comparison of PFA and ISSA

摘要:This paper compares the effects of incorporation of pulverized fuel ash(PFA) and incinerated sewage sludge ash(ISSA) on the water resistance of magnesium oxychloride cement(MOC).The strength retention was used to evaluate the water resistance of MOC.It was found that both the PFA and ISSA could significantly improve the water resistance of MOC paste.ISSA-incorporated cement paste demonstrated higher water resistance than the PFA-incorporated cement paste due to the higher amount of amorphous phase generated during hydration.The residual products were phase 5 and an amorphous phase when the PFA and ISSA-incorporated cement were immersed in water,which indicated that the amorphous phase was stable in water and protected the phase 5 from decomposition.The amorphous phase contained Mg,Si and AI,indicating that the MgO reacted with PFA and ISSA and produced a magnesium aluminum silicate phase.
