Pipe Wall Thinning Detection and Sensitivity Investigation of Longitudinal Guided Wave Using EMAT Guided Wave Testing System

摘要:The aim of this work presented here is to demonstrate that Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer(EMAT) can excite longitudinal mode guided wave and it is applicable to detect pipe wall thinning.First of all,the velocity dispersion curve and wave structure of the longitudinal guided wave in hollow cylinder are calculated analytically.Then,three dimensional guided wave simulator is developed using finite difference time domain(FDTD) method.The waveform of pipe wall thinning detection experiments is evaluated via numerical experiments with this simulator.Finally,pipe wall thinning detection experiment is performed.The experimental results are compared to its numerical ones and issues concerning those results are discussed.
