Smart Vehicle Count System at the Toll Station

摘要:Vehicle count system is found useful for many road statisticians to study the number of vehicles used the highway. Currently, man power is required to monitor and count the number of the vehicle passing through the toll station. The use of man power is time consuming and may loss the count concentration at some particular of time. In this presented paper, a smart vehicle count system is proposed. The paper proposed some kinds of weight sensor put on the road surface, especially at the toll station. When the vehicle temporary park at the toll station to collect the ticket, its weight will be measured and send to the controller automatically. The controller will compute the weight signal and determine the types of vehicles, either light or heavy. To show the initiative of the proposed idea, an experiment was carried out to study the weight sensors. The resulting sensor signal versus the weight will be shown in the paper and its voltage conversion into 8 bit microcontroller will be computed.
