Effect of Modifying the Edges of the Adherends and the Adhesive on the Stress Distribution over the Width and Length of Recovery, Case of a Single Lap Joint

摘要:The aim of this work is to analyze by the finite element method using three dimensional finite element analysis code ABAQUS the effect of the geometry of the edge adhesive and adherend on reducing peel stresses, von mises, and the shear stress in the adhesive layer, several forms were considered namely bead of adhesive, internal and external beveling of the plate and the combination of an adhesive bead and beveling of the plate, the results show clearly that the change form of the edges of the adhesive and the adherend decreases considerably the value of the stresses in the adhesive layer.
