Application of the depth-domain waveform inversion for identifying ultra-thin sandstone reservoir

摘要：Oil&gas exploration in Daqing oilfeild has long been focused on the thin and ultra-thin reservoirs in which the thickness of the target layers is generally about 2～5 m and the ultra-thin reservoirs account for 80%. Thus, deploying the horizontal wells can be a tricky task since the ultra-thin reservoirs are genenrally unstable in lateral dimension. The effectiveness of the traditional method in identifying the 2～5 m reservoir is usually unstisfactory and low-accuary. For this, we propose a noval method by using the full-bandwidth depth-domain waveform inversion to detect the underground untra-thin reservoirs. Based on the wide-bandwidth siemisc reflection data, the proposed method applies the Markvo Chian Monto Carlo simulation algorithm retrieved from the seismic waveform indication and facies-control theory to enhance both the accuracy and stability of the ultra-thin reservoir exploration by exploiting all the low, middle, and high frequency components of seismic reflection data. We conclude that, the proposed method can be an effective measure for identifying the ultra-thin reservoirs in field applcaiton.
