摘要:<正>The macronuclear (MAC) genome of Tetrahymena thermophila strain SB210, a ciliated protozoon that is a model organism for molecular and cellular studies of eukaryotes, has been sequenced to a depth of 9-fold coverage using the shotgun method. Of the two nuclear genomes in T. thermophila, we chose to sequence the MAC because it contains less repetitive DNA than the micronuclear genome and because gene expression is carried out in the MAC. The sequences were assembled into scaffolds and contigs that cover 106 megabases of DNA. We will present evidence that this likely represents most if not all of
